Experimental drug looks to be gastric bypass surgery in pill form

CVS and Walgreen are terrible for pharmacy needs. I would pay more for a more upscale pharmacy with employees not being run into the ground and that actually will pre-order my scripts ahead of renewal. You know, a premium experience. That I would be happy to pay for. Not available.

Editorial: Mammoth de-extinction is bad conservation

I'd much rather this money go to massively enlarging Elephant and wildlife sanctuaries and de-conflicting by removing as many humans as possible from their lands.

A bonus from the shingles vaccine: Dementia protection?

IDK - My Mom had the shingles vaccine. She still mixes up the names of her three children and I occasionally get called by the Dog's name :p

Lithium-ion battery waste fires are increasing, and vapes are a big part of it

Not me anymore. I finally got off nicotine and dropped the vapes more than a year ago. Long journey and my conclusions at the end are that I should have just done it cold turkey long, long ago. The weaning off over a long period just delayed the inevitable battle that had to be fought. But I...

Apple updates all its operating systems, brings Apple Intelligence to Vision Pro

I'm not sure what an MBA brings to the party besides a bunch of corporate buzzwords.

At the halfway point of season 3, The Wheel of Time is getting it done

Non-book reader here. I didn't have any trouble with the episode. It went a long way to explain the Aiel and the grateful dead pacifist/wanderers. But also, I have done some poking around in the online wiki since I first started watching, to get more details. So that "cheat" may have helped me

Collapsing US herd immunity to measles spurs experts to call for extra MMR dose

The doctor gets to charge more for it. Many GP's in the US are concerned with ROI and monetizing their patients. They have side hustles like selling vitamins and will push you to drop your specialists so they can deliver services instead.

Have we accidentally bred some dogs for obesity?

I can't stand perpetually food motivated dogs. Constant begging or trying to jump up and grabs food off counters is the worst behavior ever.

Google’s Gemini AI can now see your search history

I suppose Google can do more with my search history if Bing sends it over to them. I haven't used anything Google in over a decade.

FBI nabs worker at DVD company for ripping prerelease Marvel blockbusters

Aside from the legal or pirate aspects of this topic... I never liked the Spiderman comics. I've watched every Spiderman movie - each of which I also disliked. I've given that character plenty of chances to change my mind and it's never once appealed to me. Kinda disappointed tbh

COVID shots protect kids from long COVID—and don’t cause sudden death

I'm not content at all. I've taken every Covid vaccine and booster and I got Covid 30 days after my last booster :| Now I didn't die, so huzzah - but I'm still not happy about being down for a month. I want more and better vaccines that have much higher rates of protection. And I want them...

COVID shots protect kids from long COVID—and don’t cause sudden death

I'm really looking forward to nasal vaccines that can actually prevent you from getting sick rather than just reducing disease impact https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/new-nasal-vaccines-offer-stronger-protection-from-covid-flu-and-more-no-needle-needed/

Common factors link rise in pedestrian deaths—fixing them will be tough

It varies by state in the US. In my state (and the majority) the law says the pedestrian only has the right of way inside marked crosswalks. Outside of the marked crosswalks the drivers have the right of way.

Review: Asus’ ROG Flow Z13 tablet takes the asterisk off integrated GPUs

I'm sorry, I misread the article. I was thinking gaming laptop. My gaming laptop that has reasonable fan noise AND doesn't blow scalding air on my right mouse hand is a HP Victus 16" with a 4060 and i7/32gb/2TB

Review: Asus’ ROG Flow Z13 tablet takes the asterisk off integrated GPUs

My apologies, I was reading this in a quick gap between back-to-back meetings and my mind read laptop. I have no experience with gaming tablets. Nor would I consider that form factor for gaming (or I don't think I would?)

Review: Asus’ ROG Flow Z13 tablet takes the asterisk off integrated GPUs

"The fans required to pull off its impressive gaming feats are not quiet, either" Hard no on that basis. You can make quieter gaming laptops, I'm playing on one.
