  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

Yes I've seen coast guard helicopters and some what look like FEMA RV but I don't think I saw a FEMA logo they were just the big white trucks.

Nice to know our officers and rescue service men and woman are goin to be able to rest a bit with more help.

You know its really hard to tell just how bad it is with our media that tends to over hype everything. But it looks bad to me. And the officials don't seem to have any good choices. I watched a segment earlier today about them having to release huge amounts of water from reservoirs that made the flooding worse in some places. But if they didn't and the dams burst it would be catastrophic.

    Is it still raining?

Yes, another flood warning coming through but I don't think us civilians can help out tonight. A lot of us are exhausted and I've had to hold off on the help because I sprained my ankle and it's hard to swim.

Honestly my respect goes out to our governer and political reps. There are hard choices that need to be made some times. I honestly haven't been keeping up with the news. I've heard some stuff. But mainly been getting ice food and water.

To be honest donations are helping a lot but some of the stuff we just have to buy from areas that are not flooded. But I think they are giving us care packages tonight. I thought I saw some MREs going around today

Yes, and we're forecast to receive 8 - 12 more inches of rain. They're releasing over 76 thousand cubic feet per second...yes I said second...from this lake.
The Attic's Reservoir is bursting the levees, as is Barker Cyprus. Releasing now. None burst yet.

And I'm 70 miles North of the flooding, give or take.

      76,000 CFS is HUGE!
For comparison, in the Grand Canyon, the last time they had that much water going through was in 1987 when flows were estimated at 125,000 CFS. People died. People who were experienced guides running big, heavy rigs that could reasonably be expected to handle those big flows.
Normal flows through the canyon are 8,000-25,000CFS; flows yesterday were 15,000 CFS.

For comparison this is Redwall cavern, flow is around 15,000CFS

But it looks like to me there are multiple problems going on. Huge population. Huge geographic area. Huge infrastructure. And water everywhere but none safe to drink. God help bless you for your help and God help everyone else. This looks like a disaster in slow motion.

This is bad. And it sure doesn't look there is the faintest hint of getting a break. In fact from what you and Mexican Lover are saying its already gone from bad to worse and could be headed for total catastrophe.

They've backed off a little of the wall to wall news coverage I am seeing but that sure doesn't mean things have gotten any better. And I sure feel sorry for all those people who are in for another really long night. And from what I am hearing they are saying its going to take YEARS to put Huston back together again after this there is so much damage already.

You want to know the hardest part about helping people.. it's not the phisical aspect of the long hours. It's when you find someone on the roof of their house crying. They lost everything and you have to tell them everything will be ok when in fact you don't know.

Honestly I hope these people get their homes back. It's a lot of damage and a lot of ground to cover. Luckily I've been seeing PPD(Pasadena Police Deparment) a town close by sending police and fire trucks as well as opening their hospital doors. I know they are working hard too.

Well I actually know the "hardest part" at least. In fact it finally burnt me to a crisp as an EMT. And so many times that's about all you can do. Try to comfort someone and tell them it's going to be OK when fuck no its not OK. They are hurting. Maybe totally destroyed. Chances are real good they will never be the same. But there is not a fucking thing you can do about any of that at that moment. All you can do is try and get them out of there and to the help they really need at that moment.

Just do the best you can and feel very free to cry about it later.

Funny how you would probably claim under different circumstances that the snowflakes couldn't fire a weapon let alone own one...

But it makes perfect sense that you think this...

The governor of Texas on Monday activated the entire Texas National Guard in response to the flooding that has left a million people homeless.

But the rain is still coming down. It's not over yet....

Isolated incidents always make headlines regardless of their validity and events like this bring the community together and from what I have been told from friends down there is that charitable organizations are working hard to help those in need and it always seems like the one's that get hit the hardest are the first one's to volunteer to help ...

Picture yourself in the boat shown below after waiting out the storm until someone could reach you and then having to leave your home with only the clothes on your back and a few possessions (and your pets) as you have no idea what the near future will hold and where you will go. I think if people concentrated on that they could drown out (sorry no pun intended) the few fuck ups that are just idiots ...

    upload_2017-8-29_6-13-28.jpeg

There are many stories of acts of kindness and selfless people stepping up for those that may need more help than others.

Rockport was hit really hard and a former Dallas Cowboy player that grew up there is organizing a drive to supply essentials to those in need. If you had an aircraft at the airport, you don't anymore ...

Even the news outlet that everyone loves to hate, CNN got in on the rescues as well while doing a location shoot they heard a family yelling for help which Ed Lavendera and the camera crew offered. There are all kinds of these stories if you want to look for them on the internet ... sad that you have to look a little harder for them but people don't generally go looking for good news stories like some of us do at times.

We were hit hard by flooding in 2013 and water was to the eavestroughs on houses and it kicked the hell out of our city and by comparison the hardest hit places in Texas have gotten or are still expecting nearly 1.3 meters (1,275mm) of water in the end, we had 325 mm by comparison and it wiped out the entire lower lying area's.

What do you say to someone that got wiped out in an instant that can make them feel better other than mother nature can be a real cunt when she is pissed off. I wish ALL well in Texas and made a donation as a small gesture of support.

Well, the short answer is; you survived. You are still alive. All the rest is just stuff that can be replaced.

That may sound harsh or uncaring, but think about it; everything in your house, your car and elsewhere is just stuff that can be replaced. You still have your life and your memories, your loved ones and they are OK.

In the end, what else matters? Your Harry Potter card collection? Your big screen TV? That Loofah you just love?

The Houston mayor told citizens to “think twice before trying to leave Houston” before Hurricane Harvey hit.

And it’s only going to get worse.

On top of that, Mayor Turner is refused to take the governor’s calls.

Today Mayor Turner jumped into action.
The Democrat Mayor promised to protect all illegal aliens from deportation during Hurricane Harvey.
    Newsmax reported:

The mayor of Houston said Monday residents of his city, regardless of their citizenship or immigration status, should not be afraid to ask for help amid heavy flooding — and if illegal aliens are arrested after they are discovered in the storm, he will serve as their lawyer.

“I and others will be the first ones to stand up with you,” said Mayor Sylvester Turner, a Democrat, according to The Hill. “If you need help and someone comes and they require help, and then for some reason, somebody tries to deport them, I will represent them myself, OK?”

The city is underwater in historic flood and the mayor is worried about representing illegals?
    This is today’s Democrat party.

Maybe Harvey doesn't like sanctuary cities?

You bring up a good point though. How do we know our donations will only be used for American citizens? I'm not donating to help illegals.

Last I heard 8 looters arrested. Police working 12 hr. shifts, spread thin.
There has been almost 50" of rain. Two lakes on Buffalo Bayou overflowing dams adding to flooding in downtown. It'll get worst before it gets better.

And for all you liberals out there that think we deserve this, because we voted for Trump, go suck a dick.

You know when I see the pictures and videos of people who have been wiped out trying to make it to shelters with little kids I just want to fucking cry. When I see people desperate to be rescued and the rescuers still completely overwhelmed I just want to pray they can hang on long enough. And when I read about a family of six drowned trying to get to safety and many emergency services switching from rescue mode to recovery of bodies mode my heart just sinks.

And then when I come to this thread and see the racists and the fucking partisans using all that to make hay I just want to fucking puke.

God damn you people can't even see yourselves.

I agree. The mainstream media is already trying to politicize this. It's disgusting, but like their hero, Rahm Emanuel said, "You never let a serious crises go to waste".
