Up to date caffeine or alternative that works on Sonoma?

I've been using Caffeine since like forever. I'm pretty sure that if i turned on back in the ancient times it prevented the laptop from sleeping even if i closed the lid.

Well, today I started a ~5k second operation, forgot about it at some point and closed the lid and ... it stopped. With whatever Caffeine copy (which has been hanging around through several os upgrades and laptop-to-new-laptop transfers) I have installed on.

Anyone happened to research the issue before me?

Anyone knows where the current version of Caffeine is, or if there is such a thing? And if not, knows of any other solutions?

I'm using Amphetamine for this purpose and, while I haven't tried the alternatives to see if they are better, it works well for me.

Oh. Another free utility. I didn't even think to look in the app store because for one i didn't think Apple would allow something like this in it, and two I thought it would be a 50/month subscription even if it was allowed...

Can I ask an honest question -- what do you use this for? You want processes to run even though you've closed the lid (and you haven't got an external display attached)?

There’s a genre of games called idle games where you set up resource generators according to your limited understanding of the mathematical underpinnings of that particular game, and then just let it idle for hours or overnight and check back the next day to see what resources have been generated and what new generators you can buy.

Some of these games can be very complex. Some of them will back-calculate offline earnings after being off for a while. Some won’t. These latter ones only operate while on or in an active window. Sometimes they require regular clicking so people set up auto clickers and use apps like caffeinate and amphetamine to keep the computer on while the display is off.

This being Ars I’m sure nobody here would play these types of games. Sniffs. <Quickly checks cookie clicker>
