    You can now get verified on forum.

    The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

    I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

    Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

    If you was dating, would a mental health issue make you not want to date someone?
    I understand there are varying levels of mental health.
    I'm not talking controllable illness depression, anxiety
    Would it be a instant no or are there reasonable leeway
    Interested in people's opinion

      Same here, T. My friends tried to warn me but it didn't work. Found out they weren't lying. She's 72 now and still fucked in the head. Been divorced 30 years and she can still push every button I got. If it weren't for grandkids... oh, well, nuff said.

    When I was young I dated a girl who had everything I wanted in a woman and a mild case paranoid schizophrenia. She did not hear voices and see hallucinations. She did have rapid mood changes, feel inappropriate emotions, and suspect hostility where did not exist. She was intelligent, beautiful, and cultivated. When she was in the right mood she was charming. :inlove:

    I cannot say that I was harmed by my romance with her. I was disappointed by my inability to do more to help her. :(

    Mental illness is rarely a moral failing, despite the cop out of "not guilty by reason of insanity." Mental illness is a treatable ailment, like tuberculosis.

      Not all mental illness can be treated like tuberculosis. There are mental illnesses that can never be cured and can only be partially controlled with medicine. My wife's brother is a paranoid schizophrenic, he has been in and out of mental institutions his whole life. He was diagnosed when he was in his mid-teens and is now sixty-three years old. Even though these past fifteen years he's taken his medicine he basically can't take care of himself. He is in stage five kidney failure; he has the emotional maturity of a fourteen-year-old and we have had to stop him from hitting on fourteen-, fifteen- and sixteen-year-old females. and the state department of mental health declared him mentally competent!

      So, no Distant Lover, mental illness cannot be considered simply a treatable aliment like tuberculosis. There are mental illnesses that will destroy families.

    In my opinion, a person with a serious mental health problem needs to focus on getting better before getting involved in the dating scene... Sometimes a romantic relationship can add stress to anyone's life no matter their mental state. If you are in a good state of mind and you feel like dating, I say go for it...

    But make sure you are honest with anyone you want a long term relationship with....

    Who's to say what's normal? Some conditions are easier to manage than others. I may have an undiagnosed condition, she may have a managed condition - point is, who is worse off than who? When you accept someone for who they are, it doesn't give you permission to change them. It gives you an opportunity to support them. I only wish some people got that message sooner.
