Rob Lowe might be a little too into his kids' love lives, but it's for a good reason.
The Parks and Recreation alum, 61, spoke with AARP The Magazine for their April/May cover story and was asked if he's ready to become a grandparent. Lowe, who is dad to sons Matthew, 31, and John, 29, whom he shares with wife Sheryl Berkoff, shared that he can't wait.
"I have a probably overly inappropriate interest in my sons' love lives — because I'm angling for grandkids," Lowe told the outlet. "It better happen!"

In September, Lowe recalled to PEOPLE the “brutal” experience of flying with Matthew and wife Sheryl to Duke University to help him move in for his freshman year of college.
"It brought up a lot of stuff," he said during an interview for his August PEOPLE cover story. "And I thought, why is this affecting me so deeply? Because Sheryl was, I mean, not unaffected, but she wasn't me.”
“I mean, I was like a puddle. I had to wear dark glasses on the plane because tears were streaming down my [face] the whole time,” Lowe admitted. “I couldn't look at him sitting in his chair, in his little seat with a little book bag. I couldn't do it... It's triggering.”
“I was a wreck…I've realized it's very, very, very common because people talk to me about it now all the time,” he added.

In June 2024, Lowe told PEOPLE that for him, the "beauty of fatherhood" is getting the opportunity to revisit his own childhood.
"You get to experience their wonder and awe, and all of those amazing things," he said.
"Then they become young adults and adults, and to be able to guide them or be a part of decisions that are much more — I don't want to say important, but important, you know?" Lowe said. "First houses, significant others, jobs. With all of that stuff, the stakes are way higher. It makes me glad to be around to give my two cents for what it's worth."
