ANC seeks 7-day extension to address ‘Mswati Must Fall’ marchers amid threats of further march

ANC asks for 7-day extension to address demands for Speaker's removal

Tensions are running high in Emalahleni as the ‘Mswati Must Fall’ marchers continue to demand the removal of Council Speaker, Clr Mduduzi Nkosi.

Last week the marchers delivered a memorandum of grievances, citing allegations of money laundering, interference with local businesses, and dividing the community.

Regional Secretary Sello Matshoga said ANC Nkangala Region met with the marchers today to discuss the matter. “We sat with them and told them that we would have our meeting to discuss the matter. We told them that they must give us until seven days, and as an organisation, we will come back to them,” Matshoga said.

March organizer Joseph Mtsweni said, “The response was not positive, so within the next seven days, we might go back to the march.”

The ANC will convene an internal meeting to discuss the allegations against Nkosi and the marcher’s demands. Matshoga added that some of the demands would be channelled to the relevant stakeholders.
